USEFUL BRAINWAVES

Copyright@shravancharitymission

Watch your words. Words are everything. Even, the intentions of a well meaning communication could get derailed, if the choice of words is not good.
*
Recollect all those arrogant words that you have showered to insult others. They will return to haunt you someday. You will continue to live till you settle these bad debts.
*
You have no control over life and its changing situations. So in any given situation keep doing your best. That is all that is expected of you.
*
Cultivate a hobby. It is the only thing you can keep doing all your life between your personal and professional targets. It might even get you recognition.
*
In an explosive situation don’t take the route of offence first. For the offender might have the momentary win but then side effects of offence eats his life like a parasite.
*
If nothing makes you smile something is wrong with you.
*
By being a good listener you can gain both knowledge and even the depth of the person speaking.
*
Health is the biggest wealth. As long as you have health think God is kind to you.
*
While helping someone, remember. The helpee someday will attack you. To kill his gilt of having accepted help from you.
*
Try and see God in anything that helps you in life.
*
Avoid arguments for they are only a test of the vocal cords.
*
In silence try and catch the changing signals of life.
*
Go for long walks. It will trample all the negativity in you.
*
Take up something in life with a lot of thought and due-diligence and then don’t just give it up so easily.

NGO ACTIVITY- MEETING THREE CANCER PATIENTS ON 16th NOVEMBER

Copyright@shravancharitymission
By Kamlesh Tripathi

“Nobody can tell what I suffer! But it is always so. Those who do not complain are never pitied.”—Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice.
It is indeed difficult to even imagine how much these young kids suffer. Yet they put up a brave face. They don’t complain of pain, and require no one’s pity.
Recently, we visited these brave kids in a hospital. They are diagnosed of cancer. All are a bundle of joy. But are oblivious of what they suffer from. They smile more than us. And, that is where they put us to shame, when it comes to raw guts. We handed over our contribution in the form of cheques, to all the three Parents, of these bravehearts.
rihan
My eyes went moist. When, I saw young baby boy Rihan. Who is five and suffers from NHL (Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma). He has been fighting cancer for the last six months. His father who works as a compounder has already spent more than two lac on his treatment. His income as told to us is around ten to twelve thousand per month. We wish Rihan all the best. And compliment his Parents for taking up this brave fight against cancer.
baby-garv
Garv Chaudhury, baby boy, age two years, was the second child, whom we met from Bulandshahr. He appeared every bit a joy. He was fast asleep when his mother tickled him to meet us. Surprisingly, he didn’t wake up crying. On the contrary he got up staring at us. He suffers from Pre-B ALL (High Risk). We wish him all the very best by praying to God Almighty. We would also like to compliment his father who is a marginal farmer and his mother who is a housewife in taking up this arduous fight against cancer. We wish them the best.
ayesha
Next, we met Ayesha, a bright girl in her teens from Jaipur. Her father is self-employed and runs a workshop. His monthly income is around ten thousand. Ayesha is fighting cancer for the last one year and is diagnosed of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We wish her all the best in her fight against cancer. We also wish her Parents the very best in taking up the brave fight.
We all are so busy with our daily lives that we rarely think of such unfortunate and poor children who suffer from cancer. Should you want to contribute for the cause the account details are as given below.

HELP DOESN'T HAVE A COLOUR OR A RELIGION

Copyright@shravancharitymission

By Kamlesh Tripathi

‘HELP’ DOESN’T HAVE A COLOUR OR A RELIGION
Just as terrorism—Help, too, doesn’t have a religion. It can come from any corner. But unlike terrorism, that kills. Timely help sustains life. I had once gone to a hospital in Delhi. To meet parents of some poor young children who were suffering from cancer. The drill was to provide them with direct financial support, for treatment.

In all we had met about ten children and their parents in the hospital. Our NGO decided to support three out of them based on certain illness criticalities, doctor’s recommendation and the budget available with us. And out of the three. One child was from Sopore in J&K. His name was Abdul, and his father’s name was Fareed. Who, happened to be a small-time shopkeeper with a paltry livelihood. Abdul was suffering from cancer for the last one year. And, during that period Fareed had exhausted all his savings. He had also received timely aid from the government, but that too had been spent. Slowly the resources were receding, while the treatment was still in full flow.

When I met this bright child Abdul, I found him in an animated mood, as he was talking to his mother in Sopore over phone. He had come to Delhi for treatment without her. I spent some time understanding the challenges of Fareed, and decided to give him the good news of our supporting his son’s treatment up to a certain level. But he didn’t sound enthused about it.

First, I thought he hasn’t understood me. So, I repeated what I had told him earlier. And this time I spoke in Hindi. But still his reaction was not at all cheerful. I specifically enquired if he had understood what I had said. To which he gave me this shocking reply, ‘Janab, I have understood what you said. You want to pay for my son’s treatment. But yours is a Hindu NGO. So, how can I accept money from your Trust, for my son’s treatment? It might not cure him and Allah won’t spare me.’

For a moment I was shocked. I didn’t know how to react. Does religion lay down crude boundaries at such junctures? I thought to myself. But without being deterred, I opened my bag and wrote a cheque, and handed it over to him.

He held the cheque and looked at it morosely. I patted his back a couple of times, when his eyes went moist. Perhaps, he was at a break point. Where, on one end was the health of his son and the mounting expenses because of that, and on the other, were his own self created radical diktats. Which, he was trying to blame it upon his religion.

I said, ‘Fareed Bhai this cheque is neither Hindu nor Muslim. It’s only a piece of paper from Upparwala, for your son. So utilize it.’ And then I moved out.

After the episode a couple of months had passed. But that cheque never came to our account for debit. And, it was only when the cheque was about to expire. I received a text message from the bank debiting it to our account.

And upon reading the text message I felt nice. Not because Hindu money had helped a Muslim. But, because Abdul had realized that help has no religion or face. It is infinite and can come from any corner of the world. And it is absolutely divine to take help. But the source has to be right.
The story is true but the names are fictitious.

POEM: MORNING WALK

Copyright@shravancharitymission

By Kamlesh Tripathi

MORNING WALK

Is like the retreat in heaven,
As refreshing as the fresh breeze,
Arising from the seas of all the seven,
While it starts from the break of day,
And lasts till the last drop of frost in the blade.

*
It prepares me for the day,
And detaches me from the wearies of my yesterday,
It sinews my vision,
And orchestrates my system,
To fire the spark of momentum,
That leapfrogs me to meritorious action.

*
When I see the sun rising
The birds twittering,
The animals stretching,
Insects trancing,
And humans jogging.

*
It beguiles me to act,
Warrants me to react,
To take on mighty life each day,
Where, I stand as a dwarf.

*
And while walking every morning,
I plan my day,
Introspect my bygone years,
And rekindle my aspirations,
That execute, my ensuing destinations.

*
And as I walk around the meadows, the sun rises,
And with that my hope augurs,
Is when the refreshing breeze, huddles me around,
Only to tell me I’m not alone in the walk of life.

*
And to take me to my morning walk,
The earth rotates and the galaxy acrobats,
The sun shows up at the horizon,
Where the cool breeze comes as an x-factor.

*
For everyone has a part to play
Where the rising Sun brings about the warmth,
The mystic breeze the freshness,
And your workout the spice for the day.

*
One day when I missed my morning walk,
I felt,
I missed my day,
Lost my warmth,
Waylaid my health,
And scattered my hurray!

*
Since then I show up each day,
Doesn’t matter summer, winter or rains,
As morning walk is the purest of the pure
Act of my day.

THE BLISS OF AYURVEDA

Copyright@shravancharitymisson

By Kamlesh Tripathi

According to Ayurveda everything in this universe comprises of various proportions of five basic elements (The panch mahabhutas): Space—Akasha, Air—Vayu, Fire—Agni, Water—Jal and Earth—Prithvi.

The boundless combination of five elements gives rise to our staked individuality. And once there is a comprehensive knowledge of this ethereal combination in ourselves, we’ll be able to maintain a beneficial balance and harmony within ourselves. And wherever this balance is there; vibrant health is there.

Our natural constitution, more precisely the qualities we are born with, is called Prakriti. Qualities are important, not their statisitics. In Ayurveda, there is no generalised criteria, for maintaining health, individuality and individual constitution is more important. Some people need warm atmosphere, others prefer cooler atmospheres. Each one is a different individual. Ayurveda works with individual qualities of the person. Mind, body, and behaviour are consistently packaged together in subtle ways that are revealed only by knowledge of the five elements as dosas and gunas.

The predominance of elements (space, air, fire, water and earth) gunas (sattva, rajas, tamas) and dosas (vata, pitta and kapha) at the time of conception and during gestation decides the natural constitution of that individual. Prakriti is formed from the subtle qualities of the five elements. Vata is a combination of the subtle elements of air and space, pitta of fire and water and kapha of earth and water. Once this proportion is set, generally it remains permanent for the lifespan of the individual, but the best out of a person can be brought out through spiritual practice, like meditation, breathing and good association.

“Pra” refers to before, beginning, commencement, source or origin, in different contexts. “Kriti” means creation or to do. Therefore, Prakriti on the whole means ‘the first formed nature’ or ‘the original form of the being.’

If we understand the subtle qualities of air and space we will find qualities which are light, dry, cold, clear and moving. These are the main qualities found in a person with vata constitution, or Prakriti. In the same way, we find the subtle qualities of fire and water are hot, sharp, oily and liquid. These are the main qualities of a person with pitta constitution or Prakriti. A person of Kapha Prakriti has the subtle elements of earth and water and gives them qualities that are solid, cool, slow, liquid and dense.

Benefits of knowing Prakriti

By understanding the qualities of our natural constitution, or Prakriti, we are able to understand ourselves, how to live our life and to understand people around us, with awareness. Unlike western medicine, that aims, at only, physical, and mental health. Ayurveda, wants to lift every aspect of life to a higher level. Personal relationships, work satisfaction, spiritual growth and social harmony are all linked to mind and body very intimately. Therefore, they can be influenced through Ayurveda if its knowledge goes deep enough.

Prakriti plays an important role in understanding our health and how we function in the world and our relationship to others as well as ourselves. We become aware what health problems may occur based on knowing our Prakriti, or natural constitution. We become aware of certain like types of food, situations and seasons that affect our well being and are able to effectively manage these factors and promote health. One can take proper care, change or adjust diet and adopt daily and seasonal routines.

Additionally, prognosis of disease with respect to Prakriti is possible. In this way, knowledge of Prakriti is useful and helpful to maintain health.

And knowing your Prakriti can help you live a better life through a suitable diet, appropriate lifestyle, assessing your strengths and weaknesses, anticipating disease and preventing it, healthy interaction with friends and family.

A person is normally a combination of three constitutions. Few people can say their constitution is pure vata, pure pitta or pure kapha. And usually a person is a combination of vata, pitta, or kapha playing a dominant role, while the other two play secondary roles.

So you may find you are a P-K person, that is, pitta is dominant, while kapha is secondary and so on. Or a V-P person, with vata dominant and pitta secondary, and likewise all combinations are possible.
