VIEWPOINTS CHANGE WHEN YOU SEE THROUGH SOMEONE ELSE’S EYES

Copyright@shravancharitymission

There is nothing called good. Nor is there, anything called bad. For it’s only what you like and what you dislike. So relax, because, for everything that you dislike there is someone else in the planet who likes. And for everything that you like, there is someone else in the planet who dislikes—that holds good even for a AK47 assault rifle—which the victim hates while the killer likes. Life revolves around the ebbs and flows of such likes and dislikes. The ball game thus will only go on. And it only emanates from your aggressive sense of hues and a bloated ego. For, essentially, life is but stuck between the black and the white. Where, the final journey of course is in white. Confucius says—‘Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.” So love what you like. But don’t dislike the person who dislikes your likes. Because, everything produced by mother earth after all is meant for someone’s eyes.
Learn from your own life. There have been times, when you’ve worn that most expensive suit of yours that costed a bomb. But it went without a compliment, even when, it was of your own taste. Followed by the cheapy dress, that you wore the very next day. That someone had gifted you, when your friends or your love charm came up and said, ‘wow you’re looking gorgeous.’ So don’t just consider your taste and choice alone, to be the paramount. Give space to others in the spectrum of your colourful world. For, a human being is too incapacitated to discern what others find good in him. I was once wearing an expensive dress of my choice and the day passed without a single compliment. But the very next day when I was wearing a gaudy pullover that I had bought from the footpath market in Connaught Place. A sos purchase. The day was flooded with compliments. Where, I remember, even in borrowed sweaters during hostel days I looked ravishing.
So, in many ways you’re really ignorant about what suits you and what doesn’t. But yes, you are aware of the junk that you wish to collect and possess. To, come to think of it. You really don’t know those eyes, or the ecstasy behind those eyes that are eyeing you. What you wear is meant for some other eyes to evaluate, for you have already surrendered to the dress that you’re already wearing.
The best of cars the best of jewels and the best of persons, they all fade away with time. They become stale—when ‘like’ turns into a ‘dislike.’ And what is left behind is only the spark of relationship and the hallowed name when it goes beyond the bridge of spines. So, while acquiring the momentary rainbow don’t dismantle the stable joints of your life. What is, more important is the soul connect than those short lived combinations, colours and designs. So, learn to share and be happy to accommodate.
Live for the happy chime’s of life and its pantomime and not for those tricky colours that blinds your mind.
Hum se colour hai … colour se hum nahi. Hum se zindagi hai zindagi se hum nahi. Par in sab mein hum akele nahin.

MOTHER
Years don’t distort,
Time doesn’t warp,
Lifetime doesn’t blot,
As mother’s priceless memory,
 Always remains atop.
*
Even when I know you’re not there,
Yet there is always something,
 That tells me,
You’re somewhere here and somewhere there,
For my life and for my care.
*
In the measure of time,
You carried me up to cloud nine,
Then cradled me with all the rhymes,
You fed me to grind,
And taught me to shine.
*
My maiden friend,
The first to comprehend,
My lifelong mentor,
And evergreen centre.
*
In the shackles of time
You were always mine,
But when shackles unshackled,
God took you away in no time.
*
And since you’ve gone
Life is bereft of umpteen charms,
But the soul connect is still alive,
That revives the vibes
And that’s how life thrives.
*
Of all you taught me,
Each virtue is still fresh,
I May have forgotten school,
But you’re still afresh.
*
As time passes,
More of it comes along,
Just like your loving memories,
That keeps coming on and on.
*
Ma you’ll never fade,
You’ll always shine like the jade,
As long as I live,
And even beyond my days.

Poem: IN THE ARC OF TWILIGHT

Copyright@shravancharitymission

IN THE ARC OF TWILIGHT

In the arc of twilight,

When the day recedes,

Night retrieves,

Is when the daylight dims,

And darkness begins.

*
That makes me wonder,

Is it time to surrender?

Where the end looks closer,

And time every minute a bulldozer.

*
It appears as if,

There isn’t much left to render,

For the thread of life,

Now looks slender.

*
So the time looks ripe,

In the realm of life,

To forthwith—account for,

What you missed in life,

And gathered in the strife.

*
But before destiny strikes,

And takes you by its might,

Into the wide blue yonder,

That is full of thunder,

Only to surrender,

It gives you a flash to remember.

*
So before the untoward arrives,

Scan your blessed life,

To slate it out for your own sight,

What you attained,

And what remained in vain.

*
Yet rejoice,

At the opportunity of life,

That the rare attain,

Wrapped in cloak of humanity,

And under the aegis of Almighty.

*
And reflect honestly,

The count of your vivacity,

To feed your own vanity,

And ask yourself.

*
Did you see what you wanted to see?

Did you do what you wanted to do?

Did you say what you wanted to say?

Did you love, whom you wanted to love?

And care, whom you wanted to care for?

*
For the rhythm of life,

Is only as wide,

As the breath of life,

And only the lucky go past,

The fill of life.

*
So before the destiny,

 In plentiful,

Be kind,

Be sublime,

For that is prime,

In God’s mind.

CAUSERIE--AERIAL SIGNALS

CAUSERIE—AERIAL SIGNALS

I was young then. My uncle used to stay in Niralanagar, a posh colony of Lucknow. That was not very far from my home. He had an adjacent neighbour. Who, happened to be a Flight Lieutenant with the Indian Air Force. His name was Palta. Attached to the transport squadron and posted in Bakshi-ka-talab, the defence airport, of Lucknow. His chic and suave wife was Rita. Good looking. And, quite in line, with the upbeat image of the armed forces wives.

He often used to pilot the morning flight at 7 a.m. to Guwahati. It used to take him about five to six hours. Because, enroute, he used to off-load cargo at Bagdogra airport in West Bengal. Next day he used to return in the same manner from his sojourn. Where, he normally used to take-off from Guwahati at seven. And, after touching Bagdogra again, he used to reach Lucknow by around 1 P.M.

I often used to go to my uncle’s house those days, to meet my cousins. He had a huge terrace in his house. Where, we used to go and play. And, whilst, on the terrace, I often used to notice Rita aunty, sitting in one corner of the terrace alone with her umbrella open under the hot sun. I used to wonder why. But I never bothered to ask.

One day, when the suspense became unbearable. I decided to break it. So I asked, ‘Aunty, why do you come and sit under the hot sun?’ she smiled at me and asked.

    ‘Who are you?’

‘Well, I am Bina’s cousin. I often come here, to spend time with her. But each time I came here. I saw you sitting in that corner with your umbrella, under the hot sun. So, I thought of asking you.’ She looked at me and smiled and then said.

‘I must say you are very observant beta. I’m waiting for your uncle. He should be coming any moment now.’ And with that she grinned again. I didn’t quite understand what she meant. I began to mull, ‘waiting for uncle and that too in the terrace in the peak of summers.’ It really wasn’t making any sense.

‘But is he going to fall from the sky that you’re waiting here aunty?’ I asked a bit loudly. She laughed in amusement.

‘You want to see him coming?’

    ‘Yes aunty.’

    ‘Then just wait here.’

The suspense was beginning to get more interesting. So I decided to wait. Even when it was lunch time and I was hungry. After about ten minutes. I could hear the faint sound of an approaching aircraft. Soon, it grew louder. Is when, aunty stood up and closed her umbrella, and started waving it, at the aircraft. That was now descending on the nearby airport and wasn’t very high. Is when, I saw. The pilot had dipped the left wings of the aircraft. And after a little while it vanished behind the tall trees. Skyscrapers had not come up by then. After the sound of the aircraft subsided, she looked at me and said. ‘That was uncle.’ I asked.

    ‘How do you know Aunty?’

‘Didn’t you see? He dipped the wings of the aircraft. Until, it went behind the trees. That signal was for me.

‘Aunty, but why did he do that?’

She smiled again and said, ‘Beta to announce his arrival. Now I need to go and cook for him.’

    ‘And what will you cook?

‘That’s a good question. If he dips the left wings, it would mean non-veg. Right would mean veg. And, if he doesn’t dip, either, that would mean no lunch. So bye! For now as I need to go and cook.’ And with that she went away.

I was dazed for a moment. I too went down for lunch. And after about forty five minutes. I could hear the sound of Mr Palta’s bike.

Many years have passed since then. I don’t even know where Mrs Palta is. But, I could never forget this small and sweet incident that reflects so much about her love and concern for her husband. And, last but not the least. How they learnt to communicate from the sky, with each other—like in semaphores. When, mobile phones were not even invented.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Copyright@shravancharitymission

By Kamlesh Tripathi

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Good bye 2016,

Welcome 2017,

And the turn of teens,

Only makes me feel umpteen.

*
For 16 was good, and well understood,

Tough, but still withstood,

And straight forward too, so never misunderstood,

And with the help of all that,

17 is now a likelihood.

*
With the thick of life, thin comes along,

And with sweet 16, 17 comes along,

Just as, with the past, the future comes along,

And with the sorrows, the joys come along.

*
Each new year springs up new hopes,

Each coming year throws up new goals,

Where you roll back old scrolls,

To live in with your new roles.

*
For I have new resolutions to make,

Old resolutions to break,

For old time is ticking,

New time is revving.

*
For remember triumphantly,

Life holds no sway, without the bygone days,

But will stop to breathe, without the flowering days,

So 17 on 16 is the order of the day.

*
Life churns, only with the churn of years,

And there is no life, without the change of years,

So welcome 17 and say goodbye to 16

For that is the real trending.
