Judges to appoint judges … a voter’s perspective

Supreme Court has the done the right thing by keeping the corrupt executive and legislative out of the process of appointing judges. Some electronic media channels have also termed it as ‘Supreme Court’s judgement against the will of the people,’ rather I would call it ‘Supreme Court’s judgement against the will of the L&A,’ (legislative and elective) and not the people of India. Consequent to this, a spate of debates, have taken place in political circles, the print media and more vociferously in the electronic media, but sadly the general public is again a mute spectator in all of this. So from a voter’s perspective let me put forth some arterial points to which the big guns of the country may not be privy to.

Government and some political parties, (because now Congress like a chameleon has changed its colour) feel the traditional collegium system of judicial appointments is opaque, out-dated, and even has deficiencies. But, as a common man I feel this opacity and deficiency is hundred times better than the blatant corruption and callousness of the L&A. For over a period of time since independence the ‘trust deficit’ between the common man vis-a-vis the L&A has only increased and therefore, why would the common man trust the L&A when it comes to appointment of judges. In that manner Supreme Court has shown maturity by drawing a line and not allowing them to tamper with the process of justice, even if it happens to be appointment of judges. In a healthy democracy some amount of turf war is desirable between the L&A and the judiciary. The moment the executive takes over judiciary, it will become like the various inefficient police departments of India that wag their tails incessantly only in front of the political class without performing their actual duty, and where the concept of a world class policing doesn’t even exist.

Democracy is only good if it is played as a gentleman’s game, but unfortunately this game in India has now been completely taken over by the goondas, opportunists and cheats, where the few honest ones are not even visible; and there is a great risk that if judiciary too goes into their hands, nothing will be left in the common man’s hand.

Across all political parties a trait exists that as long as they are in the opposition they talk the common man’s language but when they attain power they show their real teeth. When BJP was not in power they used to talk about anti-vvip culture, but now all their guns are blazing to promote VVIPISM. They are now snooping in to net- neutrality and even dictating what to eat and what not to eat. They had never shown their real teeth before elections otherwise probably they wouldn’t have won. Congress is no different.

Even after 68 years of independence the entire political class could not produce another Gandhi or anyone close to him and that itself speaks of the hollowness in the character of politicians that sum up as political class. 65% of India’s population was born after 1970s and the political class that often keeps harping about high standards of values and morals could not even produce a modern day Gandhi as a role model for the youth of this country. Some could only see a glimpse of that in Anna Hazare.

In the past we have had politicians like Sanjay Gandhi who forcefully got people sterilised, and then you had Mrs Indira Gandhi who for her own personal benefit forced the state of emergency down every Indians throat, how very selfish. There have been riots where thousands of Sikhs were killed, lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits were thrown out of their homes, together with several Hindu-Muslim riots in which members of both communities have been killed and all of this happened at the subtle behest of the political parties that runs the L&A. So how will such people add any value in appointment of judges?

In India democracy is only for the day of the voting and thereafter the elected politician has no connect with his voters, election commission also doesn’t monitor this, and therefore he is a tiger for the next five years. They rarely meet their voters and are only surrounded by sycophants and coteries. Most of them are low on morals and are criminals and only believe in promoting their family. They also enact laws that suits the entire political class, without showing any morals or respect to the common man, such as keep contesting elections even if you have cases against you till the matter is finally decided by the highest court, going on foreign jaunts when the state is reeling under famine, increased VVIPISM, vote bank politics and the list is endless.

If the elected legislative wants NJAC, that does not mean the voters also want it. Elected legislative has only become an eye wash for people’s mandate. Elected members do not discuss issues of national importance or state importance with their voters back in their constituencies to take their mind. So it is wrong to say that in every important decision the will of the people is involved. Rather the elected member listens only to his party diktats which may or may not suit the voters of his constituency. Voters are supposed to vote as per their choice after ascertaining what the political Party has to offer through its manifesto. But in today’s India political parties don’t work as per their manifestos, rather some don’t even release their manifestos, some only release their vision documents, and some work totally against their manifestos. And the election commission has no check on them. In fact Supreme Court has issued guidelines on this but political parties have not responded.

If we allow the L&A to takeover the media and the judiciary there is a great risk of political class playing havoc with the general masses.

What is legislated in the parliament is necessarily not what the people of India want and what people of India want is often not legislated in the parliament or the state assemblies. This is because the elected members have lost connect with their voters. For example the entire India wants VVIPracism to be abolished but has the government tried to enact any legislation to abolish it? On the contrary VVIPISM is only growing in this country.

Amongst the four pillars of democracy the L&A has largely let the masses of India down and there is now only hope from the media and judiciary and in no manner should they allow the L&A to enter their turf in the interest of the masses.

THE CROWDED INDIAN POLITICAL SPACE

Caution: 65% of Indian population is below 35 years of age and born after 1979. They want high performance delivered by political parties and not the usual rhetoric divide between –Hindu-Muslim-Sikh-Isaai

    Indian political space is currently going through a state of filthy transformation as the political space for each party in India is gradually reducing because of the increase in number of political parties. And this is only increasing the competition; and competition is always good they say, as it helps the consumer and brings out the best in the marketer, which in this case is the political party. And this mind-boggling competition is only going to intensify further, because of the literacy rate of India that now stands at 74%.

    And, to explain what I want to say, let us compare the current political landscape of India, with that of the erstwhile auto industry of India, and that too before the MNCs walked in. There were then three car manufacturers that used to manufacture Ambassador, Fiat and Standard brand of cars that had defined markets across India where they used to sell a defined volume per annum and go home merrily. There were stray calisthenics about competing and showing aggression in some pockets but by and large these companies had their pockets and markets as vote banks in politics from where they met their targets and were having a ball of a time, as they never spent on product up-gradation, nor research and development and it is a fact that even without that some of these cars had as many as nine lives, just because there was no competition.

    In the same fashion when India got Independence there was only Congress as the major political party in India that kept all other teeny-weeny parties at bay. They were in monopoly and that was one of the reasons why development in India took a back seat, because they kept winning election after election without much of a development. And in fact I hate to say but subtle reality is that had British Empire not ruled India; India would have had a late entry to railroad and many other infrastructure projects.

    Congress had many inborn political advantages, such as low literacy rate and monopoly, so until 1991 when PV Narsimha Rao became the prime minister they never thought seriously about big reforms because their vote banks were safe in the hands of Muslim, Christian, schedule caste and schedule tribe pockets-and so also rural. The voting percentages those days were very low as compared to the total population and so with even the aggregate of minority, schedule caste, schedule tribe and rural votes they could grab power and so they were having a ball of time.

    Jansangh, later on BJP was always considered a party—of, for and by the Upper class Hindus and had stemmed out of the RSS. And since upper caste Hindus were always a divided lot, BJP could never come to power till the nineties at the centre. And this further helped Congress, who kept ruling the country without any big development agenda but by providing lip service and subsidies to the minorities and also by Hindu bashing.

THE POLITICAL SPACE IN 80-90s

    When the multinationals in the auto industry arrived in the nineties, even Indian auto companies improved in quality, new launches, CRM, customer interface and after-sales-service; and so also the markets expanded exponentially. In the same manner with some new political parties entering the fray in eighties and nineties the situation on the ground changed only marginally, as Congress still had the clout but BJP had started breathing formidability. But even with all this politicians of major parties were having a good time.

THE CURRENT POLITICAL SPACE IN INDIA

    In the context of politics the MNCs of politics are the new political parties that are gaining grounds in India, thereby increasing competition in the plinth of the Indian political space. One such party at the national level is AAP which has scared BJP quite badly.

EXAMPLE OF AAM ADMI PARTY

    When AAP started, political bigwigs of India felt it is just a hangover of Anna movement and it will die down but they finally won Delhi quite formidably. That goes to show people were not happy with the existing political dispensation and were looking for an alternative. Today LG of Delhi and Delhi Police try to disparage AAP at the drop of hat and as much as possible under the garb of rule book as if Indian political always moved as per rule book and this is further helping AAP and exposing the dictatorial mindset of BJP.

WHAT IS PLAGUING THE EXISTING PARTIES

Let me put it as pointers:

-        Indian voter is no longer happy with lollipops. They don’t like political arrogance and are clearly looking for talent and not family scions to run India, for the model has failed. Analyse Congress Party’s debacle in the last general elections.

-         You can continue to do caste and minority based politics like the way Congress favours Muslims but this space is getting too crowded as there are other parties like SP and MQM who also favour Muslims so the strategy will have to change and parties will have to deliver big-time to survive. As Muslims and other minorities also want jobs and security. Mind you Congress has already reached a pathetic 44 by not willing to change its strategy.

-        BJP should not remain as a Hindu mascot alone and should work for Indians in India if it wants to serve long term.

-        Parties and governments should desist from entering into privacy of people by quoting some religious idiotism for the public feels the party and the government is not performing and therefore trying to divert attention—a kind of a wag the dog syndrome.

-        Personal touch of leaders will play a big role. Leaders should be approachable and not surrounded by gun toting cops. I should be able to pick up the phone and speak to hitherto arrogant MLA or MP of my area. Currently such politicians are not there but with the burgeoning Indian population and unemployment rate jumping, more youngsters are free to become netas, and mind you they won’t be those unwieldy netas who can’t work without cars, bungalows, and staff. Some trend of this nature is already seen in politicians of AAP party.

-        In times to come political parties will have to move away from political sermons, to service providers role as 65% of your population is below 35 years of age who is not too much interested in your sermons but wants service, as the world has moved towards consumerism.

-        Like the present day auto industry most political parties need to have consumer centres—professionally managed where voters can visit/call/e-mail and lodge their protests.

-        Indian voter has matured and they look for talent and not family run shops.

-        There is need to run political establishments in India in a much more professional and transparent manner, with RTI, transparent accounting system just like large corporations. And, also they will have to perform and cover the nation in a much more professional way which will require a much more talented and professional team. And the party that starts first will get the early bird advantage. Enormous youth power is available for political deliverance in the country. And it will have to be cadre based. Something like RSS—but without religious linkages. And I soon see a great role for Management consultants to enter the political arena in converting political parties into political corporations that run the country. Defence of country from external forces and foreign policies will have to be dealt in special manner.

-         Voting in India should be allowed electronically and even by post for the masses to vote in large numbers and also to stop ballot-cheating as this will improve the variety of politicians.

MEDIA’S ROLE

-        Whosoever comes on a TV screen considers himself as a hero. So stop making heroes of radical leaders of any community. Instead focus on ordinary citizens who are doing great jobs for the country. This should be done across board and not by a particular TV channel to balance TRP ratings.

INDIAN PUBLIC

-         Muslims and Christians often criticise BJP to be a Hindu party. If that is the case more Muslims and Christians should ask for membership of this party to tilt the balance, after all at the end of the day BJP is only an Indian political party—so catch the bull by its horns. And in the same manner if Hindus feel Samajwadi party or Congress are pro minority, more Hindus should join this party to tilt the balance and once this happens the agenda of political parties will move from religious and caste polarization to hard core performance and development.

The whole gamut looks difficult and impossible, but I guess the world carries on, only with the difficult and impossible as the easy is only left behind.

SHORT STORY: JOB RESPONSIBILITY OF GOD

    Long time ago there lived a king, who was truly righteous but extremely arrogant. One day, he called his Prime Minister and said,

    ‘I have a doubt that keeps bothering me. And as you know, in this universe everyone has a fixed job to do just like, a king is supposed to rule, a soldier’s job is to fight, a trader is supposed to trade, teacher is supposed to teach, a preacher is supposed to preach and even the rest of the civilisation have prescribed jobs to do.

    And there is the law of the universe. In the same manner the person who runs this universe also must be having a definite job to do about which I know nothing. So please tell me what is the job of the person who runs the universe—God.’   

    Prime Minister had no answer to this as no one had ever asked him a question like this. But he attempted.

    ‘Your Majesty, no one knows the answer to this question, and neither, it is mentioned in any book—as the job of God.’

   And, since he was an extremely cunning person he thought for a moment and added, ‘But your question is quite justified, as this question came to my mind also several times, but since my job is to advise you to help you run the administration, so I didn’t bother to ask. And these are spiritual issues where I  think the Raj-Purohit (Chief-Priest) will be in a better position to give an apt answer.’

    And after expressing his views he very strategically left the place immediately, leaving the entire responsibility of answering the question completely on the Raj-Purohit.

    When the king posed the same question to the -Purohit Raj he got bewildered, as no one had ever asked him such a question, and no one knew the exact job of God. And everyone only knew to the extent they had read in the books, and even in the books there was no separate information about God’s job responsibility.

    But the King specifically wanted an answer to his question. Raj-Purohit didn’t want to offend the King, so he sought a week’s time.

    King agreed, and said, ‘okay, but I need a comprehensive reply to my question.’ Raj-Purohit went home. And in the next one week he went to all the libraries and went through all the books that he could lay his hands on, but he could not get a comprehensive answer to this question.

    By the end of the week he was mentally quite exhausted. So he went out of the city and sat under a tree and started thinking, how will he show his face to the King tomorrow, or should he leave the kingdom and flee.

    One shepherd boy who was grazing his sheep there, saw the Raj-Purohit sitting there in a pensive mood and recognised him. He asked, ‘why are you looking so sad?’ The Raj-Purohit replied, ‘child you please do your work, as I have some spiritual work to handle.’

    But, when the child assertively asked again, the Raj-Purohit narrated his problem, knowing full well, the boy will not be able to solve his problem.

    ‘Raj-Purohit ji, if you are troubled only because of this small problem, then please go home and relax, and tell the King this shepherd boy knows the answer to his question.’

     Upon hearing this, the Raj-Purohit was stunned, because even the most renowned scholars of the kingdom didn’t know the answer to this question. He pleaded to the boy to let him know the answer, but the child insisted he would tell the king himself, the answer to question.

    A bit relaxed, Raj-Purohit left for home. Next day when he reached the King’s court the king repeated his question and with great amount of eagerness he waited for the answer, but was flabbergasted to hear that the answer to his question was available with a shepherd boy. He immediately ordered for the child to be there. The boy arrived at the King’s court in great enthusiasm.

    And, everyone looked at him with a great amount of disgust, but also waited for the valuable words to come out of his mouth. The king asked, ‘Oh shepherd boy! Do you know the answer to my question that even the renowned scholars sitting in my court don’t know? So tell me what you know about this topic?

    The shepherd boy hesitated for some moments and then said, “Respected, before I answer your question I wish I be given the right kind of seat to sit. Because, as far as this query is concerned, you are the student and I’m the teacher, for I’ll provide you with that knowledge. And in principle the seat of the teacher should be higher than that of the student, but it is not the case here.

    On hearing this everyone started whispering in an appreciative manner about the boy. The King also felt some truth is his statement. After a few moments the King vacated his throne and requested the shepherd boy to occupy it, after which he eagerly started waiting for the answer while looking at him.

    But the boy after sitting on the throne went quiet and started enjoying the great feel, while perched on it. The King got restless and in an arrogant tone shouted, ‘Oh you child, will you answer now, what is the job of God?’ the boy looked at the King and peacefully asked, ‘what answer?’ and on hearing this, all present in the King’s court got stunned. The boy then said, ‘the job of God is to put down the arrogant and lift the humble.’

 This story is one out of the thousand stories of Puran (mythological scriptures) that is still relevant even today as it was in those days.

SHORT STORY: ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE, ANYTIME AND ANYWHERE

SO DON’T JUST BASK UNDER THE GLORY THAT YOU’RE ALL TOO POWERFUL

On 24^th of June 2015 Kiran Rijijiu, the all powerful minister of state for home, Government of India, was returning from Leh to Delhi along with his assistant Nirmal Singh. And to accommodate them in the flight three members of a benign family of an IFS officer, including a child, were disallowed from boarding the flight AI-446, according to reports. This also delayed the flight and brought Kiran Rijiju under a much avoidable, yet virulent controversy called the #VVIPRACISM.

In this world often the rich and mighty feel they are all too powerful, and nothing can strike and ground them, even when they are at large. But, I guess, this is not how God works. And, in this case also, when Kiran left for Leh he couldn’t have imagined, in his dream, that he will be caught up in such a odd controversy, considering he was the all powerful minister of state, for home, in the Government of India. But he forgot about God Almighty who has his own ways of tracking such devious stories—and this time it was through the media.

And this brings us to a moot point that anything can happen to anyone, anytime and anywhere no matter how powerful he or she is. And, this is what the controversy conveys to the society.

Take for instance, in this case also, had Kiran Rijiju known that by gate crashing into flight AI-446 he will become a clumsy news item, even when he is going for an official visit, and enter a zone of controversy where the matter will escalate right up to the PMO, in all probabilities he would have shunned this flight. But God’s vibes had not passed on, any such inkling to Kiran.

That apart, for Kiran too, retaining a prestigious job, as minister of state, for home, in the government of India, any day is much more preferred than getting entrapped in such stupid controversies.

     But, I presume, he too never anticipated this ruckus. Perhaps, he thought I’m the all mighty minister for state, and that too for home, so who can question me, and so he got on to the flight, and this larger than small, arrogant mistake of his, hit him like the bolt from the blue.

And so this gives us all a lesson of life; no matter how powerful you are, you wouldn’t know when what will come and hit you, sooner, or even later, especially, if you try to be devious with the hapless.

For God has his arrows, in his quivers, that the notorious rich and mighty can’t see. And, these episodes keep happening at regular intervals, only to remind us of this stark reality, where this time minister of state, department of home, government of India, Kiran Rijiju was the chief protagonist.

Kiran Rijiju will remember this episode for life, but more important is need for the message to spread across to the society.

BRITISH IMPERIALISM TO INDIAN VVIPISM ... if only George Orwell was alive

Novels and movies are the best mirror of times for they often spill the beans, whereas history can be contrived and VVIPISM most certainly, imposed.

Nothing has changed. In this scathing and zipping novel ‘Burmese Days’ written by George Orwell way back in 1934, Indians and Burmese are referred as niggers and beggars in some pages: and thus denied membership in a local European club in Upper Burma.

    To come to think of it, what has changed in India, even now? Earlier the Britishers used to keep Indians at an arm’s length, and today the VVIP Indians. For you still have special roads and parking areas, grand lounges, devoted policemen, security men and muscle power for the VVIPS. And the list doesn’t end there for you also have several allowances, free passes and free tickets, subsidies only for the VIP race. The only difference is we are not referred as niggers or beggars anymore but as Aam Aadmi.

The book mentions that in British regime when an illiterate domestic servant used to misbehave he was sent to a prison with a chit—15 lashes. And today many VVIPs continue to do the same in the event of dissent.

Perhaps, there was an opportunity for this great writer to write another book on India after the British Imperialism on Indian VVIPISM titled “Indian Days.’ But sad, he is no more.

In the ‘QUOTE-UNQUOTE’ below there is peace 1 and peace 2 that tells the unkind ways in which many Britishers thought about Asians. But since 1934 Indians have moved ahead and so will the Aam Aadmi of India.

    “Ah, you’re about right there,” said Westfield in his gloomy way. “This country’ll never be fit to live in again. British Raj is finished if you ask me. Lost Dominion and all that. Time we cleared out of it.”

    Whereat there was a murmur of agreement from everyone in the room, even from Flory, notoriously a Bolshie in his opinions, even from young Maxwell, who had been barely three years in the country. No Anglo-Indian will ever deny that India is going to the dogs, or ever has denied it—for India, like Punch, never was what it was.

    Ellis had meanwhile unpinned the offending notice from behind Mr. Macgregor’s back, and he now held it out to him, saying in his sour way:

    “Here, Macgregor, we’ve read this notice, and we all think this idea of electing a native to the club is absolute—--“ Ellis was going to have said ‘absolute balls’, but he remembered Mrs. Lackersteen’s presence and checked himself—“ is absolutely uncalled for. After all, this Club is a place where we come to enjoy ourselves, and we don’t want natives poking about in here. We like to think there’s still one place where we’re free of them. The others all agree with me absolutely.”

    He looked around at others. “Hear, hear!” said Mr. Lackersteen gruffly. He knew that his wife would guess that he had been drinking, and he felt that a display of sound sentiment would excuse him.

    Mr. Macgregor took the notice with a smile. He saw the ‘B.F.’ pencilled against his name, and privately he thought Ellis’s manner very disrespectful, but he turned the matter off with a joke. He took as great pains to be a good fellow at the Club as he did to keep up his dignity during office hours. “I gather,” he said, “that our friend Ellis does not welcome the society of—ah—his Aryan brother?”

    “No, I do not,” said Ellis tartly. “Nor my Mongolian brother, I don’t like niggers, to put it in one word.”

    Mr Macgregor stiffened at the word ‘nigger’, which is discountenanced in India. He had no prejudice against Orientals; indeed he was deeply fond of them. Provided they were given no freedom he thought them the most charming people alive. It always pained him to see them wantonly insulted.

    “Is it quite playing the game,” he said stiffly, “to call these people niggers—a term they very naturally resent—when they are obviously nothing of the kind? The Burmese are Mongolians, the Indians are Aryans or Dravidians, and all of them are quite distinct----“

    “Oh, rot that!” said Ellis, who was not all awed by Mr. Macgregor’s official status. “Call them niggers or Aryans or what you like. What I’m saying is that we don’t want to see any black hides in this Club. If you put it to the vote you’ll find we’re against it to a man—unless Flory wants his dear pal Veraswami,” he added.

   “It’s all very well,” grumbled Ellis, with his forearms on the table, fidgeting with his glass. The dispute with Mr. Macgregor had made him restless again. “It’s all very well, but I stick to what I said. No natives in this Club! It’s by constantly giving way over small things like that that we’ve ruined the Empire. This country’s only rotten with sedition because we’ve been too soft with them. The only possible policy is to treat ‘em like the dirt they are. This is a critical moment, and we want every bit of prestige we can get. We’ve got to hang together and say, ‘We are the masters, and you beggars—‘ “ Ellis pressed his small thumb down as though flattening a grub—“ ‘you beggars keep your place!’”

CROSSTALK: WHO HELPS WHOM … the X-factors of politics

Dr Manmohan Singh after bitterly criticizing BJP in the morning calls on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the afternoon. Many TV channels speculate as to why this meeting took place. There are rumours galore that he went to tutor the PM on how to run Indian economy, and some said he called on the Prime Minister for political asylum owing to various scams committed during UPA regime. And BJP won the general elections because of the scams.

On the face of it BJP and Congress might be bitter rivals but the moral of the story is even a bitter rival can give his opponent a lifetime of an opportunity. Perhaps, PM Narendra Modi didn’t forget this gesture. So who helps whom is often not in the hands of we human beings.

 Mohd Asaduddin Owaisi, is a bitter rival of BJP. But what will happen if his party MIM decides to contest UP elections. The Muslim votes will further get divided amongst Congress, SP, MIM, BSP and BJP. And who will it benefit--BJP? So in politics no one knows who’s helping whom.

VVIPS: IF YOU COULD ONLY SPARE DAINTY FLOWERS- IN YOUR THANKLESS BOUQUETS

‘Earth laughs in flowers’ - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Each flower is the heart throb of the garden where it is grows, and so also the emblem of ‘earth’s laughter’—as Emerson puts it.

But, it is sad to see on TV these days, how people in droves mindlessly present flower bouquets to VVIPs, including Heads of States who mechanically pass it on to their security guards, standing next to them. And you get this disgusting feeling, seeing these lovely flowers being insulted.

Perhaps, callous VVIPS do not have the time and mind to remember and feel about the labour pains ‘Mother Earth’ may have undergone in ‘delivering’ each flower, and the blood and sweat, the gardener may have oozed in bringing about this exquisite beauty called- flowers.

Therefore, will it not be wonderful to leave them in the garden alone than to give them premature death in thankless bouquets.

And, as for tokenism one could think of plastic or paper flowers under—‘make in India’ scheme.  

  

Feudalism Lives- Rachpal Singh makes his guard put on his shoes, democracy sheds a tear

Sardar Rachpal Singh, also minister for Planning and Implementation in government of Bengal forgot at his convenience, Guru Nanak’s all time relevant teachings; so also the umbilical and noble duties that a Sikh is supposed to perform in a Gurudwara by allowing his security guard to tie his shoe laces. And, further shamed the martial race by hiding behind a measly back pain, the reason why he allowed the security guard to tie his shoe laces, when Sikhs are known for their unimaginable pain enduring capacities.

But let me also point out as to why security personnel posted along Netas, VVIPs and bureaucrats are getting into such a demeaning form of Chamchagiri? Why can’t they refuse on the face of these VVIPs as this is not part of their job?

And what will happen if one guy refuses, hundred guys refuse and thousand guys refuse?

THE MENACE OF #LAL-BATTI CULTURE ... the way out

A lot is being discussed about the menace of Lal-Batti (Red-Beacon) culture in India and I’m hearing and seeing many suggestions on TV and newspapers; but largely those suggestions are of routine type and may not help. For now only a paradigm shift will make the difference.  And so, to get rid of this menace we require, some out-of-the-box thinking, and to that effect my suggestions are follows:

1.    Stop manufacture of Lal-Battis for general market forthwith. These red-beacons should be manufactured only against specific orders, emanating from the Government of India, for constitutional posts, and as approved by GOI or the honourable Supreme Court of India. Treat it, as a dangerous commodity, such as sale of acid or even live cartridges.

2.    Honourable Supreme Court has approved of certain constitutional posts, where Lal-Batti can be used. Barring these no one else should be allowed to use Lal-Battis, and if anyone is found breaking the law he or she should be fined for a minimum of Re 1 lac + for misdemeanor and dishonour of honourable Supreme Court orders.

3.    Dismantle the entire fleet of government vehicles with red-beacons, which are only misused by Netas and Bureaucrats, barring few pool vehicles and vehicles for top dignitaries and for the rest provide them with car loans basis their salaries and entitlements, fuel and maintenance allowance and even driver allowance like the private sector. This will save crores of hard earned tax payers money as Capex and will also root out the unnecessary evil of lal-battis.

Narendra Modi government has done extremely well by disallowing, Politicians and Bureaucrats to continue in their ‘Paradise’ (official Lutyens’ zone bungalows) when it’s a clear case of ‘Paradise-lost.’

Government truly is not a real estate agent and is not there to make money on such properties. By bringing about this order, BJP has hit at some politicians and bureaucrats where it hurts the most.

Recently TOI had covered shameless politicians like Ambika Soni and Kumari Selja of Congress party who were digging their heels for their sprawling bungalows, when they don’t deserve it anymore. Congress had converted Lutyens’ zone into a “Private Estate.”

Well done Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Venkaiah Naidu!

Suggestion: The more you remove VVIP-ISM more you will stand a chance of returning in the next elections. Remember Indians are now frustrated with vulgar display of VVIP-ISM.

Kim Junior is presently the most insecure military dictator of the world. Recently he executed his defence chief Hyon Yong-choi using an anti-aircraft gun at a firing range. Hyon, 66 is understood to have been executed for repeatedly voicing complaints against the country’s leader and falling asleep in one of the official functions where Kim was present.

And in India one could sleep peacefully even in Legislative Assemblies and Parliament without even a scratch. 

THE RUDDERLESS #POLICE #FORCE

This is one force of India that makes no difference to the common man of India but makes a world of a difference in the lives of Netas and Babus and that is why they are still surviving else this force on an ‘as is where is basis’ would have met a natural extinction by now. And the common man in fact dreads, going near these dacoits robed in Khaki.

But who has created this large force of ‘Khaki’ dacoits? I would say the Babus and the Netas. As most policemen belong to no one rather they are exploited by their own senior officers where they are made to work as orderlies in their homes and by Netas who treat them as personal slaves. And to offset this frustration they behave as tyrants when they come across a common man, because they don’t have the balls to set the babus and the Netas right, and so the frustration spills over here.

And, now the anger and frustration of policemen is spilling all over the roads so much so that a senior constable Subhash Chandra can dare to attack a woman if denied a bribe of two hundred rupees.

But sadly even now it doesn’t frustrate the Netas and the Babus who continue to kick these policemen around for their personal benefits.
